Ride ice slides, explore polar mazes and caves, or belly up to a frosty ice bar. One of only five locations in the country, immerse yourself in the magical glow of winter, just minutes from South Peak.

These meticulously sculpted, large-scale structures are built using icicles that are carefully placed and shaped to create intricate, fairytale-like castles. Located a few minutes from South Peak, the North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse in Lincoln is a local favorite for live shows and theatrical performances. Beginning around Memorial Day, audiences are treated to Broadway favorites and children’s classics all summer long before closing out the year with heartfelt renditions of some all-time family favorites.

In addition to establishing a reputation for excellence in the performing arts, Jean’s is also home to Broadway Bound, an immersive day camp taught by professional mainstage actors from across the country. Broadway Bound teaches aspiring actors some of the basics of the industry and helps foster a love of the arts in the next generation.

Fall Foliage

Summer may not last forever, but fun is never out of season at South Peak! The region is never more beautiful than it is in the fall foliage season when billowing warm hues color the landscape for as far as the eye can see. A late autumn afternoon drive along the Kancamagus Highway is one of the most beautiful sights you can experience in New England.

Situated in the heart of the mountains in scenic Lincoln, NH, South Peak is prime real estate for those looking to take in the sights of the season. Quick and easy access to several mountain peaks and the Kancamagus allows enthusiasts to take in the oceans of bright red, deep orange, and golden yellows that stretch for miles. Foliage begins turning color in late September, with peak color expected in the second and third week of October, though this may change from year to year.

Hobo Railroad

Experience the White Mountains as seen during the late 1800s when life was a little slower and logging was the lifeblood of Lincoln. Operating from May through December, the Hobo Railroad gives folks a chance to take a peek back through time. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy an 80-minute round trip aboard a restored vintage coach train winding along the banks of the Pemigewasset River through the gorgeous beauty of the surrounding woods. Fall foliage rides are extremely popular, and little ones will be happy to hear that Santa Claus himself joins the fun from Thanksgiving through mid-December. If you prefer a more active experience, South Peak and Loon Mountain Resorts have a variety of terrain to mountain bike or hike through the blaze of bright autumn foliage. Below are some of our favorite fall trails – just be sure you don’t get too distracted by the leaves and fall off your bike!

Loon Mountain Resort
Loon offers 9 miles of downhill mountain bike trails provide a satisfying experience for both beginners and seasoned riders with various freeride, technical, and cross-country trails.

J.E. Henry Trail
A 1-mile family-friendly trail that begins at the entrance of South Peak Resort and runs adjacent to the Pemi River. This leisurely route is lined with beautiful wildflowers and is a serene, peaceful place to walk during the brisk autumn months. Dog-friendly as long as they remain leashed.

South Peak Escape Route
A 2.3 mile moderately challenging loop trail great for walking, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Open year-round but especially pictueresque in the fall.

East Ridge Trail
A 2.3 mile circular trail near Lincoln. Generally considered an easy route for tose just looking to take a stroll, relax, and enjoy the foliage.

Serendipity Loop Trail
This easy 2.3 mile loop trail near Lincoln provides great views of the leaves and is also an ideal pick trail for birdwatchers.
