Skiing & Snowboarding
When you’re at South Peak, you have the freedom to pursue any winter experience you’d like. We’re conveniently located in the heart of the White Mountains, with three unique ski resorts within minutes of your own front door. If you’re an avid, experienced skier or snowboarder trying to challenge yourself or if you’re just starting out and need to take it slow, there’s a trail waiting for you less than an hour away from your South Peak home base.
Loon Mountain – Conveniently located in South Peak’s backyard, Loon’s impressive numbers do all the talking necessary: 2,100-foot vertical drop, 370 skiable acres, 61 trails, 11 lifts, eight glades, and three peaks. An impressive 99% snowmaking coverage on trails and 322 acres of expertly curated and groomed snow in total. Loon has also garnered coveted “Top” honors from Ski Magazine, Freeskier Magazine, and Transworld Snowboarding. Known as one of New England’s most accessible mountains, Loon’s recently announced expansion, Flight Path: 2030, promises to make Loon New England’s premier mountain destination for decades to come.
Snowmobiling
New Hampshire has always been a hub for winter enthusiasts and with more than 7,000 miles of snowmobiling trails and terrain throughout the state, it’s not hard to see why. And Lincoln is the cozy mountain town tucked away in the heart of it all.
Known as one of the most snowmobile-friendly parts of the state, many Lincoln shops, restaurants, and lodgings offer trailer parking to give you the easiest possible access to the nearby mountains and trails. A vast trail network connects South Peak Resort to the neighboring New England states. Reach NH from Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, or Quebec, Canada. Saddlebag trips across state lines and borders into NH are commonplace.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to take in some spectacular local Corridor 11 scenery or a seasoned rider seeking new trails and borders to explore, be sure to check in with Sledventures and Outback Kayak for guided tours, sled rentals, storage, and all your gear and equipment needs. As a groomer of the area trails, Lincoln-based White Mountain Snowmobile Club is another great resource for amenities, maps, and current trail conditions.
One of the best places to go snowmobiling in Lincoln is the vast network of trails maintained by the Loon Mountain Snowmobile Club. The club maintains over 100 miles of trails, which wind through the White Mountain National Forest and offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
In addition to the trails maintained by the snowmobile club, Lincoln is also home to the White Mountain National Forest, which offers even more opportunities for snowmobiling. The national forest boasts over 1,000 miles of trails open to snowmobiles and provides a range of difficulty levels, from beginner to expert.

Want to enjoy the rush of speeding down a mountain but don’t know how to ski or snowboard? Snow tubing may be exactly what you’re looking for. Experience the rush of the snow, the pull of gravity, and the thrill of feeling like a kid again at any age. Required skill level? Zero! Loon Mountain proudly operates the only lift-served day-or-night snow tubing in the area. Take the Little Sister double chairlift to the top of the trail and get ready for the ride of your life as you whip down a 250 vertical on nearly 1,000 feet of track. Do the little ones need a slower pace? Tot Tubing has a walk-up hill for the little ones at the base of Little Sister Trail. Check with Loon directly for hours and complete details.
Cross-Country Skiing

For those looking to experience the thrill of cross-country skiing in the White Mountains, there are plenty of trails for all skill levels within a 40-mile radius of Lincoln, NH. Popular trails include the Livermore Trail, which is an easy loop with gentle slopes and beautiful views of the White Mountains, and the Franconia Notch Trail, which is a more advanced trail offering challenging hills and spectacular mountain scenery.
The Loon Mountain Resort area also offers a number of trails for both beginner and advanced skiers, with a range of terrain suitable for all levels. The Loon Adventure Center offers a variety of expertly groomed, curated trails that run the gamut of skill levels. From gentle beginner paths along the Pemigewasset River to more challenging trails that ascend Black Mountain, visitors can either challenge themselves or enjoy a leisurely scenic stroll through a winter wonderland. Guided tours and rental equipment are available. And if that’s still not enough for your liking, the moderately challenging Lincoln Woods Trail offers a 9.4-mile out-and-back trip just a few minutes up the Kancamagus. Sno-Go Bike
Not a big skier but still want to join your friends and family out on the slopes? No problem! South Peak offers guests a chance to rent out brand-new SNO-GO devices for their enjoyment. SNO-GO is a brilliantly engineered bike-like device with three skis, a chairlift loading hook, and an extremely easy learning curve for gliding down the ski slopes. Most people master the basics in under an hour and are able to keep pace with their friends who ski or snowboard as they venture about the entire mountain. Ice Skating
The town of Lincoln area is home to several outdoor ice skating rinks. The Riverwalk has an outdoor rink open evenings and weekend days through mid-March. Plymouth State College and Waterville Valley have ice arenas with public skate hours.
